So authentic and different.

I suspect she owns the place.
The first-time visit was so pleasant I wish to make this my regular "Cheers Bar"...in other words: "tavern" in the European sense sans rooms for rent. It is not an inn, but oh what a fantastic inn it would be for travelers if there were rooms upstairs to rent!
My imagination just went off on a tangent. Forgive my meanderings.
Love the food. Love the staff and patrons met. This place is a gem in a quiet part of Riverhead and close walking distance to the train and buses.
This has been the best pork chops meal I ever had. Also came with a fresh salad. Will be going back and also spreading the word how delicious it is.
My husband had the sauerbraten and said it's the best he had. I had the stuffed flounder and can't wait to have it again.
We had the rice pudding and bread pudding for dessert. Delicious!
We can't express enough how delightful our server was. We with her the best going back to school.
Portions were a very large. I had the sauerbraten, that came with potato pancakes and red cabbage, it was so yummy. I’m looking forward to my leftovers tonight. I will be going back often.
It’s been around for decades. Staff is super friendly and welcoming.
I had the kielbasa and sauerkraut on rye with polish mustard. Really just awesome and reminds me of growing up on the North Fork of Long Island, where most people were descendants of Poland and Ireland. Mostly farming.
You should check it out if you’re in the neighborhood. You can always go to Applebees or another chain anytime anywhere.
Try it. I think you’ll like it.
Sauerkraut
They have a very extensive menu but we opted for their specials... They had very unique dish that I've only had homemade... Meatballs in this rich thick ginger snap silesian sauce... It's a regional delicacy eaten in the Eastern parts of Germany (Silesia) that became part of Poland after 1945.
Sadly this dish did not compare and I was sooo hoping it would :/. However everything else we tried was delicious, their pierogi's were phenomenal as well as the creamy creme brulee. We will definitely give this place another try and be back to try more things on their regular menu.
